This Tennessee life and health insurance license can be of great benefit to insurance brokers, as every Tennessean needs health insurance, and most Tennessee families will want some protection should something happen to the primary earners. Once you fulfill the Tennessee insurance license requirements for life and health agents, you can become an invaluable resource to these individuals and families. A Life And Health (L&H) Insurance Agent (in some states, also known as "Life, Health, And Accident) sells Life, Disability, Long Term Care, Medicare, and other policies to groups and individuals. Without this kind of protection, Tennessee residents have no recourse should their property become lost, stolen or damaged. Along with life and health, property and casualty lines are some of the most important policies you can offer to residents of Tennessee. If you have a property and casualty license and you or a partner has a life and health license, you will have covered the great majority of policies needed by residents of Tennessee. As a P&C Agent, you advise clients on what policies best suit their needs, tailor policies to fit their requirements, and help customers when they file a claim.

What Does A Tennessee Insurance Adjuster Do?

An Adjuster inspects property damage or personal injury claims to determine how much the insurance company should pay for the loss. They might inspect a home, a business, or a vehicle, then analyze the situation, talk to witnesses, do research and otherwise investigate to make sure the claim is legitimate and the claimant gets a settlement that is fair based on the parameters of their policy.

As a Tennessee insurance adjuster, you are a critical part of the insurance process, and every Tennessee insurance company needs one or more insurance adjusters working for them, making sure claims are paid accurately. Being an insurance adjuster is a great way to benefit from the insurance industry even if you are not an agent.

How To Become An Insurance Agent In Tennessee

Generally speaking, to become a licensed insurance agent in your state you must first meet any state requirements such as age, passing a background check, etc. You then must take any state-required pre-licensing courses and pass your state's licensing exam to be licensed and able to sell insurance in your state. Click any of the icons above to learn about the requirements for your state.

Your Tennessee insurance license requirements start with prelicensing. If you are going to pursue a single line, like just life, just accident and health, just property, or just casualty, you are required to put in 20 hours of prelicensing study with an approved prelicensing course. If you are seeking a combined lines license, like life and accident and health, or property and casualty, you will need 40 hours.

You can complete the requirement online or by taking a live class with four hours of pre-class study per line. Agent Broker Training Center can accommodate you no matter your preferred learning style. We have an online Tennessee insurance license class as well as in-person Tennessee insurance license training course, both of which are state-approved and fulfill the prelicensing requirement upon satisfactory completion.

Once you have finished the prelicensing course from Agent Broker Training Center, passed the prelicensing exam, and received a certificate of completion, the next step is to take the actual licensing exam. Make sure you make full use of your Agent Broker Training Center study materials. After you pass the test, you can apply for your license through NIPR.com. Electronic fingerprinting is not required at this time. Wait three days before applying to give your results time to appear in the Tennessee Department of Insurance database.

Tips For Earning An Insurance License In Tennessee

Step 1. Purchase Your Pre-License Education Course
Before attempting to take the insurance license exam you'll need to be sure you're well prepared. Since there is a fee for every attempt at the test, and the national first-time pass rate is between 50%-60%, it is not something to take lightly.

What we have found is that the majority of the non-pass attempts are from individual who don't study enough. Once they take the exam and realize that most of the questions can't be answered with common knowledge, they go back and purchase real study materials, then go back a second time and pass.

Since we want you to pass the first time you take the exam, we recommend that you take your studies seriously, and either take an online course or get a textbook before attempting the test. Insurance license exam fees aren't cheap, so save yourself some time and money by doing it right the first time.

Step 2. Take Multiple Insurance License Sample Practice Exams
The next step after completing all of your pre-license coursework or self-study is to take the insurance exam. You will take one exam for each line of insurance you wish to carry. To ensure you pass your exam to become a licensed Insurance Agent, your best approach is to take as many practice exams as possible.
