The Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) designation program gives you a competitive edge in the increasingly competitive insurance business.

You will be able to increase your commissions, improve your insurance knowledge, learn how to avoid E&O claims, and earn continuing education (CE) credits for your license renewal all at the same time.

AAI is the result of a joint effort of the Insurance Institute of America (IIA) and the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA).


Curriculum

Candidates must pass an examination for three of the following courses to earn the designation:

Required Courses
  • AAI 81: Foundations of Insurance Production
  • AAI 82: Multiple-Lines Insurance Production
  • AAI 83: Agency Operations and Sales Management
Notes

Course Sequence - It is best to take AAI 81 before AAI 82; AAI 83 may be taken at any time.

Exam Waiver - If you hold either the IIA Certificate in General Insurance (INS) or CIC designation; or have passed CPCU 553 or 555, plus CPCU 551 & 552; the AAI 81 exam requirement is waived.


Examination Requirements
  • Each exam is a two-hour, 85 objective question, computer-administered exam
  • Your results will be provided immediately upon the completion of your exam.
  • National exams are given at local testing centers during the following two-month windows:
    • January 15 - March 15
    • April 15 - June 15
    • July 15 - September 15
    • October 15 - December 15
  • Exam fees will apply

Additional Requirements

Candidates are not required to meet experience or education requirements to attain this designation.


Continuing Education Requirements

A designee is not required to fulfill any annual continuing education requirements, nor are there any annual fees for a designee to maintain the designation.
