New Consumer Lending Compliance Requirements in the Hyperactive Regulatory Environment - Where Do We Stand?
Consumer (non-real estate) lending is one of the most regulated activities in the country, and with recent legislative and regulatory developments, more attention than ever is being placed on how you make your loans, and to whom. The Federal Reserve has passed numerous new Reg. Z rules over the past year, many of which affect all loans, not just mortgages. . Plus the Dodd-Frank Act and new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will have much to say in the way of new rules in the near future. There are several new rules in place that affect various types of loans you make, plus there is significant regulatory pressure in 2011. Make sure you understand the changes and know the regulators' hot button issues.
