Colorado Life And Health Licensing Requirements

Colorado Life And Health Pre-Licensing Requirements For Resident Agents

Each state has its own insurance licensing rules and regulations. In Colorado, that includes being certified as having successfully completed a pre-licensing course that the Colorado Department of Insurance has approved.

You will have to prove successful completion by passing a certification exam taken with an impartial proctor. A score of 70% or higher is considered satisfactory for you to receive your certificate.

Once you receive your certificate, contact Pearson VUE to schedule your exam. You can also call them at 1-800-274-2616. You will be required to pay a fee of $48. Come to the testing location at the scheduled time with your certificate of completion and two valid forms of government-issued picture ID.

If you pass the exam, you will be notified right away. You can then apply for your license online at NIPR.

Colorado Life And Health Licensing Examination Requirements

For the Colorado Life Insurance exam, you will have to answer 95 questions, of which 80 are live and 15 are pre-test questions. You have two hours to complete the exam. Subject chapters are:

  • Types of Life Policies
  • Policy Riders, Provisions, Options, and Exclusions
  • Taxes, Retirement, and Other Insurance Concepts
  • Colorado Statutes, Rules, and Regulations Common to All Lines

For the Accident and Health Insurance Licensing Exam, you will have 80 scored questions and 16 pre-test questions, with an hour and 45 minutes for completion. Subjects include:
