Life And Health Pre-Licensing Requirements For New Jersey Resident Agents

You need to meet pre-licensing requirements before taking the New Jersey life or health insurance licensing exam. To do so, you must undergo a state-approved pre-licensing course and pass the relevant certification exam.

You can find both the course and the pre-licensing certification exam you need through Agent Broker Training Center. Once you demonstrate your knowledge of the material by passing the exam, you are free to take the actual licensing exam you are interested in.

New Jersey Life And Health Insurance Exam Requirements

Each licensing exam comes with a registration fee. You can sign up at PSI Exams. On your scheduled day, show up at the testing location with your pre-licensing certificate, a government-issued, current photo I.D. and a second form of I.D.

The New Jersey Life Insurance Examination is an 83-question, multiple-choice exam covering issues like types of life insurance policies, taxes, retirement and related issues. The New Jersey Accident and Health Examination is 88 questions on issues like types of health policies, social insurance and other insurance concepts. For either exam, you will have three and a half hours to complete it. A success rate of 70 percent is required for passing. You will find out as soon as you complete your test whether or not you have passed. Then, NIPR and the Department of Insurance will receive your score automatically.

You cannot get your license until you pass a background check. You can schedule a fingerprint appointment at IdentiGO. Bring your I.D., money or a credit card to pay the fee, and a filled-out Universal Form (which you can access at the Department of Insurance website; see the url below) to your fingerprinting appointment.
