FAQs By Format

Regarding In-Person Seminars

Previous to the COVID epidemic, individuals seeking licensure attended in-person events at local hotels or conference centers. Since COVID, the hotel/conference center offerings are still taught in-person, but now the instructor teaches via the video conference format.

The video conference format, aka "Instructor-Led Webinars", differs from the traditional in-person format as follows:
  • Individuals seeking licensure are provided with and online version of the pre-licensing materials, as well as sample exams
  • The instructor does not read the materials page for page for the attending students. Instead, the presenter is available over a two-day period where he or she covers key topics and answers questions. The instructor's presentation is recorded for playback as needed
  • Regardless of whether you attend the live or view the on-demand version of the instructor's presentation, students must still complete the online course
  • Students who complete the online course receive a "Certificate of Completion" which is needed to sit for your licensing exam
Q: What is the process for earning a Life & Health or a Property & Casualty insurance license?
A:
Individuals seeking a Life & Health or a P&C license must first complete their state's pre-licensing course, then pass their state's licensing exam. Most states also require that individuals pass a background check.

Q: What is the process for earning an Adjuster license?
A:
Most states require individuals seeking an Adjuster license to complete their state's pre-licensing course. Note, however, that there are roughly 15 states that either don't require a license, or accept the "Designated Home State (DHS)" licensing process from Florida and/or Texas.

Q: What are the requirements for earning a securities license?
A:
Unlike insurance licensing, which is state specific, securities licensing is nationwide. Therefore, individuals seeking a securities license needs to pass the nationwide course.

Q: What types of securities licenses are there?
A:
From the Series 7 (aka "Stockbroker") to the ability to sell municipal bonds (Series 52), there are many types of securities licenses. Go to ABTrainingCenter.com/Securities-Licensing to see the full list of securities license types.

Q: What is the SIE licensing course?
A:
The Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) course and exam is the core requirement for obtaining a Series 6, 7, 79, or 99 license. The SIE course and the accompanying exam is basically an introductory-level course that teaches – then assesses - a candidate's knowledge of basic securities industry information and concepts fundamental to working in the industry.

Q: What is the price difference between the online and the virtual option?
A:
The virtual training option typically costs about $100 more than the self-paced online version. The difference essentially pays for the cost of the instructor.

Q: I prefer an instructor-led session. How do yours work?
A:
Instructor-led sessions are ideal for individuals who would like the ability to interact with an instructor. Under this option, instructors are available over two successive days where they review key points and answer questions. The instructor-led sessions are available live or recorded for view on-demand. Students should note that instructors do not read the materials page by page, and that you are still required to complete the online course.

Q: How - and when - do I schedule my licensing exam?
A:
Students receive a Certificate of Completion after completing their pre-licensing course. This certificate is needed to schedule a licensing exam. As a courtesy, ABTrainingCenter.com provides contact information for exam licensing facilities at the bottom of each state's page.
